WINGATE, N.C. | The Young Harris College women's cross country team cames in eighth place at the Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University Saturday (Sept. 26) morning.
The Mountain Lions, who are ranked No. 9 in the USTFCCCA Division II Southeast Regional rankings, finished in eighth place out of 20 teams with 238 points. Wingate University won the meet with 64 points. The meet was contested on the same course that will host the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championship in early November,
Nancy Murgor, who is the current Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Runner of the Week, added her second third-place effort of 2015 with a 6K time of 22:53.70 on the Wingate Cross Country Facility course, three seconds behind Anderson (S.C.) University's Haylee Love (22:50.45).
Nicole Smith finished in 21st place with a time of 24:09.15 while
Jessie Fortner placed 61st with a time of 25:23.82.
Rachel Boulineau had a time of 25:44.79 and came in 75th place and was followed by
Ciara Wood (94th, 26:23.16),
Claire Warren (103rd, 26:46.19),
Savannah Hardin (112th, 27:25.01) and
Sarah Williford (151st, 30:45.84).
The Mountain Lions will return to action Oct. 10 when they compete in the D2 Georgia Collegiate Championship in Milledgeville, Georgia, at 8:45 a.m.
