GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The Young Harris College women's cross country team finished in sixth place at the University of North Georgia Invitational Saturday (Sept. 19) morning behind freshman
Nancy Murgor's runner-up finish.
The Mountain Lions finished in sixth place out of 22 teams with 162 points. Savannah College of Art and Design Atlanta won the event as they edged out the hosts North Georgia by a single points with 66.
YHC freshman
Nancy Murgor finished in second place – 0.4 seconds behind Dalton State College's Emily Poole – with a time of 22:41.7 in the women's 6K race on the UNG Gainesville campus, which will host the 2015 Peach Belt Conference Championships Oct. 24. Teammate
Nicole Smith also registered a top-20 finish as she came in 15th with a time of 23:59.8.
Jessie Fortner came in 35th place with an effort of 24:53.2 while
Rachel Boulineau came in 47th with a time of 25:32.8.
Ciara Wood came in 84th place with a time of 26:51.9 followed by
Savannah Hardin (89th, 27:05.9),
Claire Warren (100th, 27:32.7), and Sara Williford (123rd, 29:34.9).
The Mountain Lions will get their first look at the site of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals next Saturday (Sept. 26) when they travel to Wingate, North Carolina, to take part in the Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University.
