Pacers win 14-10 slugfest over Young Harris

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken claimed a 14-10 win over Young Harris College in the Peach Belt Conference series finale between the two teams Sunday (March 17) afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

The Pacers, who are ranked 13th nationally, improved to 20-5 overall and to 9-3 in the Peach Belt with the three-game sweep while the Mountain Lions fell to 10-12 and 2-10.  The Mountain Lions will host Southern Wesleyan University in a 5 p.m. contest Wednesday (March 20) at Zell B. Miller Field.

The contest started with the two teams combining for 13 runs over the first three innings with USC Aiken holding a 7-6 lead after the three-inning stretch.

Dom Wyshinski stroked his second home run of the season as he connected on a three-run homer in the second. Young Harris added three more runs an inning later on David Atwood's second homer of 2013.
 
Bowen Klosinski added a two-run single in the sixth inning for Young Harris while Jack Morrow added a two-run homer – his team leading seventh of the season - in the ninth.
 
Morrow and Atwood each had three hits in the Mountain Lions' 15-hit attack. Trey Rogers, Wyshinski, Zach Bricknell and Klosinski had two hits apiece.
 
Wyatt Brown (3-1) earned the win despite giving up seven runs while Justin Cooper (2-4) took the loss for Young Harris.
