ROME, Ga. | Young Harris College defeated Shorter University 2-0 in a Conference Carolinas women's soccer matchup Wednesday (Sept. 16) evening at Ben Brady Field.
With the win, the Mountain Lions improved to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in conference. YHC returns to action Saturday (Sept. 19) when it travels to Spartanburg, S.C. to face Converse University at 4:30 p.m.
Faith Niebrugge led the offensive attack for Young Harris, scoring twice in the first half. Niebrugge opened the scoring in the 20th minute off an assist from
Sophia de Amorim Sousa before finding the back of the net again at the 24:27 mark to give YHC a 2-0 advantage.
The Mountain Lions controlled the match offensively, outshooting Shorter 18-3, with 13 shots on goal.
