SPARTANBURG, S.C. | Young Harris College women's soccer remained unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play with a 5-2 road victory over Converse University Saturday (Sept. 19) evening at Hayden Abney Fulp Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 6-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play. YHC returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 23) when they host Emmanuel University (Ga.). Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
Young Harris brought the energy early, as Clara Allen scored just 58 seconds into the match off an assist from Charlotte Brown. Kennedy Blake added another goal in the 27th minute to give the Mountain Lions a 2-0 advantage before Converse cut the lead to 2-1 heading into halftime.
After Converse tied the match early in the second half, Young Harris responded with three unanswered goals. Allen scored her second goal of the match in the 53rd minute before Blake added her second in the 66th. Faith Niebrugge capped the scoring in the 69th minute to secure the 5-2 victory. Brown assisted on each of the Mountain Lions' first four goals.
Young Harris outshot the Valkyries 13-9 and placed six shots on goal. Emily Jantz made two saves in goal for the Mountain Lions to earn the victory.
