FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. | The Young Harris College volleyball team fell o Emmanuel University, 3-2, in a Conference Carolinas women's volleyball matchup Tuesday (Sept. 15) evening at the Shaw Athletic Center.
The Mountain Lions fell to 6-4 overall and 0-3 in conference. YHC returns to action Saturday (Sept. 19) afternoon when it hosts Converse University at 2 p.m. for its home opener.
Young Harris opened the match strong, taking the first two sets 25-22 and 25-23. Emmanuel responded by winning both the third and fourth sets 25-13 before closing out the match with a 15-5 win in the fifth frame.
Amya Dryden led YHC with 12 kills while hitting .632.
Mary Margaret Wilson and
Hannah Depp added eight kills each, and
Kathryn Urbanek finished with six.
Maddie Pelfrey led the defensive effort with 15 digs, and
Lyza Thigpen recorded 18 assists and two service aces.
The Mountain Lions finished the match with 42 kills, 54 digs, and seven blocks.
