Mountain Lions Compete at Asheville Bulldog Invitational!

Asheville, N.C. | Young Harris track and field ended their regular season at the Asheville Bulldog Invitational. The meet was a two-day event spanning April 10th through April 11th. This was an opportunity for the Mountain Lions to sharpen up, as well as a last chance to qualify any athletes for the conference meet. The Mountain Lions had many standout performances coming out of this weekend and look strong going into the conference meet.  

Quote from director of track and field Matt Logan:
"It was good to see KB get a throw she deserves. She's worked hard all year. The mid-d and distance group showed we are ready to roll in a couple of weeks, and I thought our 400m group really competed well."  

Men's Highlights:

  • Aidan Vrazel competed in the 1500m running a time of 3:58.06 for 2nd overall  
  • Xander Potter ran 3:59.28 in the 1500m for 3rd place  
  • Noah Mason ran 4:00.14 in the 1500m for 4th place 
  • Chris Umukodo ran a season best in the 400m of 51.81 

Women's Highlights:

  • Caitlyn Thaman ran a personal best of 20:24.06 in the 5,000m  
  • Caroline Bass ran a personal best of 21:04 in the 5,000m  
  • Kaleigh Bond threw 37.17m in the javelin to place 3rd 
  • Ryan Singh ran 1:01.34 personal best in the 400m 
  • Mary Proctor ran 1:01.82 personal best in the 400m

Young Harris track and field will conclude their season at the Conference Carolina's outdoor track and field championship at Myrtle Beach South Carolina, Thursday April 23rd through Saturday Apil 25th .
