YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College softball team fell in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader to Southern Wesleyan on Senior Day Saturday afternoon, dropping game one 9-4 and game two 4-3 to move to 29-15 overall.
Game One: Southern Wesleyan 9, Young Harris 4
The Mountain Lions jumped out to a strong start with a four-run first inning, but Southern Wesleyan answered with big innings in the second and third to take control.
Mallory Clark highlighted the opening frame with a two-RBI single, while Shayla Pennington and Maddy Brady each drove in runs as Young Harris built a 4-0 lead.
Southern Wesleyan responded with three runs in the second before breaking the game open with a six-run third inning to go in front 9-4.
Clark led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Anna Kate Hill and Shayla Pennington each recorded multi-hit performances.

Young Harris battled back but came up just short in the second game of the doubleheader.
Southern Wesleyan built a 4-0 lead behind a two-run second inning and two more in the fourth. The Mountain Lions responded in the fifth, cutting the deficit to one after Gracie Hughes delivered a two-RBI single and Mallory Clark added an RBI on a fielder's choice.
Haley Cummings led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance, while Hughes drove in two of the team's three runs.
