WILSON, N.C. | The Young Harris College men's lacrosse team dropped a Conference Carolinas road contest to Barton, 16-11, on Saturday afternoon at Truist Stadium. The Mountain Lions move to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Barton jumped out to an early lead, scoring seven goals in the opening quarter to take control of the game. Young Harris answered behind a more balanced attack in the second quarter, cutting into the deficit with three goals, including scores from Anderson Kesinger, Colburn Connelly, and John McElhenny.
Trailing 11-4 at halftime, the Mountain Lions responded with a strong third quarter, outscoring Barton 4-1. Logan Martucci, Christopher Redding, Kyren Fields, and Sam Marchello each found the back of the net to trim the deficit to 12-8 heading into the final period.
Young Harris continued to push in the fourth quarter, getting goals from Knox Holston, Cason Diamond, and Connelly to close within 13-11. However, Barton answered with three late goals to seal the 16-11 result.
Connelly and McElhenny led the Mountain Lions with two goals each, while Fields added a goal and two assists. Grady Stokes and Noah Cosby each recorded two assists, and Marchello contributed a goal and an assist.

Young Harris was outshot 48-32, while Barton held advantages in ground balls (27-20) and caused turnovers. The Mountain Lions went 12-of-14 on clears and 1-of-4 on extra-man opportunities.
