MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. | The No. 33 Young Harris College women's tennis team continued its strong stretch on Saturday morning, defeating Mount Olive 5-2 on the road. The Mountain Lions have now won five of their last six matches and improve to 7-4 overall.
Young Harris took control early by claiming the doubles point. Futaba Saito and Maud Scholten earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Holly Ashford and Viviana Gomez dominated 6-1 at No. 3 to secure the point.
In singles play, the Mountain Lions sealed the match with four victories. Saito led the way with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-3), while Gomez added another point with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Callie Stanfield (6-0, 6-2 at No. 5) and Lexie Gillespie (6-0, 6-0 at No. 6) rounded out the scoring for Young Harris.
