YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College softball team continued its dominant stretch on Saturday (Mar. 21), sweeping Chowan in a doubleheader by scores of 4-2 and 7-1 at the YH Softball Field. With the wins, the Mountain Lions have now claimed 11 victories in their last 12 games.
Behind clutch hitting and dominant pitching, Young Harris controlled both games from start to finish, highlighted by a standout day in the circle from Julia Moore.
Game 1: Young Harris 4, Chowan 2
The Mountain Lions did all their damage in the second inning, plating four runs to take control early.
Shayla Pennington got things started with an RBI single, and Young Harris capitalized on miscues to extend the lead. A wild pitch brought home another run, Bailee Brown reached on an error to drive in a run, and Shelby Duncan added an RBI groundout to make it 4-0.
Chowan chipped away with runs in the fourth and fifth innings, but the Mountain Lions' pitching staff held firm.
Lilly Jones earned the win, tossing 4.2 innings while allowing two runs. Abbie Burkett provided solid relief before Julia Moore shut the door, striking out three over the final 1.1 innings to earn the save.

Game 2: Young Harris 7, Chowan 1
Young Harris once again struck early, scoring four runs in the second inning to seize momentum.
Bailee Brown opened the scoring with an RBI single before Haley Cummings delivered the big blow; a three-run double to give the Mountain Lions a 4-0 lead.
Chowan scored its lone run in the sixth, but Young Harris answered immediately with a three-run inning of its own. Cummings added another RBI single, Gracie Hughes drove in a run, and Mallory Clark capped the scoring with an RBI double.
Julia Moore dominated in the circle, throwing a complete game while allowing just one run on four hits and striking out seven to earn the win.
