Potter Leads Distance Effort at Camel City Distance Classic

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. | The Young Harris College men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed Saturday (Feb. 7) at the Camel City Distance Classic, hosted at the JDL Fast Track. With the Conference Carolinas Championships approaching, the Mountain Lions focused on strong efforts and qualifying marks in a competitive distance-heavy field. 

QUOTE FROM DIRECTOR OF TRACK & FIELD MATT LOGAN:

"We competed hard. We had several personal bests and conference qualifiers, which was the goal for today. Now it's time to get a little rest and get focused for the conference meet." 

Men's Highlights:

  • Xander Potter paced the Mountain Lions in the 3000 meters, finishing 27th overall in 8:56.06. 

  • Dylan Stone followed closely in the 3000 meters with a 9:00.90 (31st), while Nick Alonso clocked 9:24.64 (45th). 

  • In the mile, Thomas White ran 4:37.57 (69th), Nathaniel Harris posted a 4:40.28 (71st), and Noah Mason finished in 4:40.82 (73rd). 

Women's Highlights:

  • Lexi Greene posted an 11:03.63 in the 3000 meters, finishing 37th. 

UP NEXT:

The Mountain Lions now turn their attention to the Centre Indoor Invite & Multis in Danville, Kentucky this Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 14-15).
