Mountain Lions Surge Past Barton in 101–92 Shootout

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College Mountain Lions lit up the scoreboard on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 3), outlasting Barton College in a high-octane battle for a 101–92 victory at The Harp. 

Player of the Game honors go to Carl Cleveland, who delivered a monster performance with 39 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 10-of-19 from the field and an incredible 19-of-21 at the free-throw line. 

With the win, Young Harris improves to 8–5 overall and 4–1 in Conference Carolinas, while Barton drops to 4–9 (2–3 CC). 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Carl Cleveland dominated with 39 points and 11 boards, going 19-of-21 at the stripe. 

  • Justin Payne added 24 points and five assists, hitting two triples, and going 8-of-9 from the line. 

  • Dylan Wolle chipped in 14 points off the bench, knocking down three three-pointers. 

  • Newcomer Jalen Ware scored seven points and added four boards. 

  • Christian Drummer provided a spark with seven points and four assists in 16 minutes. 

  • Cameron Bleshoy anchored the defense and grabbed seven rebounds while dishing out six assists. 

  • Young Harris shot 53.4% from the field, 25.0% from three, and 79.1% at the line. 

  • Barton finished at 45.3% overall and 38.5% from deep. 

  • The Mountain Lions controlled the paint with 42 points inside, and their aggressive play earned 43 free-throw attempts, converting 34. 

  • The game featured 11 ties and nine lead changes, but YHC pulled away late behind Cleveland's clutch free throws and a 58-point second half.
