YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College Men's Soccer program is proud to welcome back one of its own, as Charlie Wilde joins the Mountain Lions as an Assistant Coach, Head Coach Dean Grey recently announced.
"Absolutely delighted to bring Charlie Wilde aboard this Fall," said Grey. "He was one of my captains and leaders as a player and greatly respected on and off the field. His knowledge of the game, the program and passion for YHC will only benefit us moving forward."
Wilde, a native of Nottingham, England, is a 2025 graduate of Young Harris College and a former standout midfielder for the Mountain Lions. Over four seasons, Wilde appeared in 59 matches with 34 starts, tallying six goals, 12 assists, and 24 points. He logged 3,359 minutes on the pitch, including two game-winning goals. His senior season in 2024 was his most productive, recording a career-high three goals and four assists in just 13 games.
While this marks Wilde's first official collegiate coaching role, he brings valuable experience working with young soccer players and a deep understanding of the Mountain Lions' culture and expectations.
"I am honored to join the Young Harris Men's Soccer program as the Assistant Coach!" said Wilde. "I'm looking forward to partnering with Coach Grey to help build a strong, competitive culture. My passion for Young Harris and soccer is what I believe will help the student-athletes to succeed both on and off the field. A huge thank you to Dean Grey and Aaron Bessey for welcoming me back to Young Harris. I'm excited to get started and help the team reach new heights."
Wilde's return marks a meaningful addition to the program, as he becomes the latest alumnus to rejoin the Mountain Lions in a leadership role; bringing with him a player's perspective, a coach's mindset, and a heart that bleeds Mountain Lion purple.
