Camden Maday: Making Her Mark in the Enchanted Valley

7/24/2025 1:47:00 PM

Young Harris Athletics' next student-athlete spotlight of the summer is Camden Maday, a rising sophomore on the women's lacrosse team. Maday is from Peachtree City, Georgia and a graduate from McIntosh High School, who has made a significant impact in the Enchanted Valley in just her first year. Get to know Camden Maday on and off the field below!

As a freshman, Maday saw action in 18 games. The defender recorded one goal and two assists, while scooping 27 ground balls and causing 13 turnovers. Maday's "breakout game" came on the road against West Virginia Wesleyan, where she found the back of the net in addition to picking up two assists, contributing to the Mountain Lions' whopping 21 goals scored that day.

As a sophomore, Maday has built several lasting memories, but two moments from her freshman campaign stood out most. The first was the dramatic 14–13 overtime win over Emmanuel University on April 1, during which she collected two ground balls and forced two turnovers. She also highlighted the team's pair of home wins against North Greenville, particularly the second matchup, which punched the Mountain Lions' ticket to the next round of the Conference Carolinas postseason.

Away from the field, Maday is a marketing major who is heavily involved in campus life. She is a resident assistant, student worker for athletics and a team lead/field talent staff at Chick-fil-a. After getting her degree, Maday hopes to work at Chick-fil-a at the corporate level or for Delta Airlines, in their marketing department.

Lacrosse is not Maday's only talent. Something that most don't know is her interest in calligraphy. She creates calligraphy-based art for weddings, businesses and events when not on the field.

"Camden was an essential piece of our defense this year." says women's lacrosse head coach Christine Hatton. "She made some great hustle plays and really held her own as a freshman. She exemplifies what is means to be a Mountain Lion. She works hard every day, and I am really excited to see her continue to grow."

When asked to reflect on what it means to represent Young Harris, Maday had a special message. "To me, representing Young Harris means showing up with heart, staying grounded and being someone people can count on. It is about leading by example and pushing yourself to grow," says the second-year defender.

After making a statement her freshman year, Maday is ready to prepare and train for the 2026 season. Catch her and the rest of the women's lacrosse team next February when they return to action on the Young Harris Soccer and Lacrosse Field for another memorable season.
