Young Harris, Ga. | Congratulations to Callie Stanfield (Women's Tennis) and Mark Castle (Baseball) on earning Mountain Lion of the Week honors.
Callie Stanfield, a new addition and transfer from the University of West Georgia, has been solid all year for the Mountain Lions. In postseason crunch time, Stanfield won her singles match, which ultimately kept the season alive to even the score at 3-3, against a tough opponent in Barton College. Earlier on in the day, Stanfield contributed to the clean sweep of the Francis Marion Patriots in the opening round of the tournament. She secured a doubles victory (partnered with Andreia Semeano) 7-5, while not having to finish her singles match. Although the season has come to a close, the Purple & White are excited to return such a dominant piece to their roster in the 2025-2026 season.
Young Harris Baseball just wrapped up another fantastic regular season, were named Conference Carolinas Co-Champions, and have their sights set on the postseason. Mark Castle, a graduate student from Saint Johns, FL, has been helping in all different places this year to lead the team to greatness – but has particularly contributed at the plate in this last regular season series. In the Friday night showdown at Emmanuel University, Castle went 3-for-5 with a run scored, a double, and five RBI. Continuing to show dominance at the plate, he was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in the Saturday finale. A player with a ton of experience, he knows the importance of getting hot at the right time. As the Mountain Lions look ahead to the postseason, they will lean on Castle to jumpstart the offense, like he has done all year.
