Mount Olive, NC | In the Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals, the Mountain Lions fell short to the Mount Olive Trojans with a final score of 17-8 (Apr 22
nd).
Colburn Connelly finished his YH career on a great note with four goals on seven shots, while picking up a ground ball. The Young Harris offense struggled to keep up with the high-powered UMO offense, who took charge in the second quarter.
After falling short in the first round of the tournament, the Mountain Lions conclude the 2025 season 6-9 with a 3-4 Conference Carolinas record.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
· The first 15 minutes were a defensive battle. The Trojans struck first, with Jack Lewis netting the opening goal (11:04). Then,
Grady Stokes responded after firing the shot from
Tommy Chriszt (4:07). Mount Olive snuck one more in there before the change in quarters, leading a low-scoring first quarter 2-1.
· With a collective nine goals, the second quarter was the most offensive, mostly for UMO. The Trojans scored eight to the Mountain Lions' one, which was shot by
Colburn Connelly (3:39).
· Heading into the half, Young Harris trailed 2-10 after struggling to find a rhythm on offense.

Colburn Connelly (11:45) and
Ben Soenen (4:33) found the back of the net coming out of the half.
· In the final stretch,
Colburn Connelly secured a hat trick with two unassisted goals. With under 10 minutes to go, Connelly,
Indiana Crawford (7:34), and
Lukus Olson (5:07), scored four consecutive goals, however, it wasn't enough to match the Trojans offense.
· The Mountain Lion assists were awarded to
Grady Stokes (2),
Tommy Chriszt, and
John McElhenny.
· YH won the turnover battle with 16 to the 26 committed by UMO.
· Mount Olive secured 49 ground balls while Young Harris grabbed 35 on the afternoon.
· The face-off factor was pivotal in this match up, as the Trojans took control early. They out dueled Young Harris 23 to four.
