DUE WEST, SC |Â To conclude a long road stretch, Young Harris leaves Erskine College in a split this afternoon (Apr 1
st). In game one,
Jess Jaruszewski hit a three-run home run, her fifth of the year. In game two, a combined effort from the whole lineup got the job done with eight total runs.Â

The Mountain Lions move to 15-19 overall and are 6-8 in Conference Carolinas while the Flying Fleet move to 6-23 overall and are 2-9 in Conference Carolinas.

Game 1:
- Young Harris fell just short in game one with a final score of 4-3.Â
- Action at the plate was on the lighter side in this one, with all runs for both squads coming from the long ball.Â
- In the bottom of the first, Gabby Burroughs hit a two-run home run to give the Fleet a 2-0 lead.Â
- Following that big swing up in the fourth, Erskine's Emily Johnson went yard with a two-run home run as well. EC led 4-0.
- With two runners on, Jess Jaruszewski (1-for-3) came to the plate and had herself a moment. She hit a three-run shot to bring in Grace Young and Avery Fielden (1-for-4).Â
- Avery Fielden picked up a stolen base this afternoon, her third of the season.Â
- Payton Cox picked up her first win of the season in the circle after pitching the complete seven innings and recording a strikeout.Â
Game 2:
- The Mountain Lions defeated the Flying Fleet in game two with a final score of 8-7.
- Starting things off strong, a combined first inning effort from Avery Rein (1-for-3), Mallory Clark (1-for-3), and Shayla Pennington (1-for-3) gave YH a 4-0 lead… each picked up an RBI.Â
- Erskine also made contact at the plate in the first inning for runs. Peyton Raybon and Kennedy Crouch's RBI singles put two on the board for the Fleet.Â
- A long fourth inning went Young Harris' way. Avery Fielden (2-for-5) and Gracie Hughes (3-for-4) each singled for RBIs, followed by Jess Jaruszewski reaching on a fielder's choice, and Shalya Pennington walking with the bases loaded. YH led 8-3.
- In a last effort to comeback, Erskine gave it all they had in the sixth. Two hit-by-pitch at-bats and two RBI singles put the Fleet within one.
- Shelby Duncan and Avery Fielden each swiped a bag in game two, Fielden's second of the day.Â
- Grace Young was awarded the win, her eighth of the year, after 5.1 innings pitched and punching out two.

UP NEXT:Â The Mountain Lions end their long road stretch and will return to the YHC Softball Field for lots of action this weekend. On Friday (Apr 4
th), YH will take on Shorter University in a double-header at 2/4:30PM. On Saturday (Apr 5
th), YH will face Converse University in a double-header at 1/3:30PM.Â
