OKATIE S.C. | The Young Harris College men's golf team showed resilience and steady improvement at the Oldfield Classic, held Feb. 24-25 at the renowned Oldfield Club. Despite a challenging start, the Mountain Lions gained momentum with each round, ultimately finishing with a 54-hole total of 892 (+28) to secure a strong finish in a competitive field.

The par-72, 7,133-yard Oldfield course provided a stern test, and Young Harris initially struggled to find its rhythm, opening with a 305 (+17) in the first round. However, the Mountain Lions rebounded in the second round, shaving off eight strokes with a 297 (+9), before delivering their best performance in the final round with a 290 (+2), a testament to their ability to adjust and compete under pressure.

QUOTE FROM DIRECTOR OF GOLF, JOHN LICHTENWALNER:

"Definitely a step in the right direction this week. We had a much improved final round after a tough first day. Great to see a couple under par rounds, and a bogey free round from Ruben. However, we still had a lot of basic mistakes, specifically three putts. Excited to play again next week at Lander."

  • Ruben Lindstrom led the way for Young Harris, carding rounds of 75 (+3), 74 (+2), and a stellar 69 (-3) in the final round. His strong finish secured a 12th-place individual result at 218 (+2).
  • Adrian Ronn provided steady play throughout the event, posting scores of 73 (+1), 74 (+2), and an even-par 72 in the final round. He placed 15th overall with a 219 (+3) total.
