Mountain Lions Open Spring at Oldfield Classic

OKATIE, S.C. | The Young Harris College men's golf team opened play at the Oldfield Classic, hosted by USC Beaufort at the Oldfield Club on Monday (Feb. 23) and Tuesday (Feb. 24). Competing in a strong field, the Mountain Lions finished 15th out of 16 teams with a three-round total of +70. Georgia Southwestern captured the team title.

Young Harris posted rounds of +32 in round one, +18 in round two, and +20 in the final round.

Individual Performances:

  • Samuel Ankelstam: +5, E, E | Tournament Total: +5
  • Ankelstam led the Mountain Lions, finishing tied for 18th overall. He opened with a +5 and followed with even-par rounds in rounds two and three to post Young Harris' top finish.
  • Todd Marovich: +10, +8, +1 | Tournament Total: +19
  • Marovich finished 64th overall, showing steady improvement throughout the event and closing with his best round (+1) in the final round.
  • Nick Grimaldi: +6, +3, +11 | Tournament Total: +20
  • Grimaldi finished tied for 65th overall. He posted his best round in round two (+3).
  • Adrian Ronn: +11, +7, +8 | Tournament Total: +26
  • Ronn finished tied for 78th overall, recording consistent scores across all three rounds for Young Harris.
  • Chris Terzian: +13, +15, +21 | Tournament Total: +49
  • Terzian finished 90th overall.

Final Team Results:

16th Place: Young Harris (+70)

Round 1: +32

Round 3: +20

The Mountain Lions gained valuable experience in their spring opener and will look to build momentum as they continue the spring season at the Bearcat Classic on March 9th and 10th in Greenwood, South Carolina.
