Mountain Lions Use Defensive Masterclass to Storm by Tornado 63-32

Young Harris used a dominant 20-5 third quarter to run away from the King Tornado and went onto win by a score of 63-32 (Feb 19th)

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris used a dominant 20-5 third quarter to run away from the King Tornado and went onto win by a score of 63-32 (Feb 19th). The 32 points allowed by the Mountain Lions are the lowest they have given up all year.  

The Mountain Lions advance to 17-8 overall and are 11-6 in Conference Carolinas. The Tornadoes move to 11-15 overall and are 9-10 in Conference Carolinas.  

QUOTE FROM HEAD COACH LINDSEY HUFFMAN:

"Our defense is a strong suit; we emphasize it every day and the girls are truly locking in. Today we see the importance of locking up the glass. This final push in the regular season is going to be a grind. We are going to have to hit the road and stay focused; each game at this point is a championship level game. We need to be physically and mentally prepared and ultimately keep playing good basketball."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

·      The story of the night was the Mountain Lion's defense who held the Tornado to just 26.0% from the field and 11.8% from three.  

·      Young Harris was led by Ivona Miljanic's 18 points on a blistering hot 5-6 from 3-point land.  

·      Parehuia Delamere stuffed the stat sheet tonight with 13 rebounds to go along with five assists and four steals.  

·      Delamere's rebounding efforts propelled the Mountain Lions to win the boards battle 34-24.  

·      Young Harris was spectacular passing the ball tonight as they assisted on 17 of 20 made field goals.  

·      The Mountain Lions forced the Tornado into 21 turnovers and scored 17 points off those turnovers.  

·      Rae McClarty sparked the crowd with a late seven points on 5-6 from the stripe and an impressive drive to the basket for a layup.  

·      King was led by Sarah Thompson's 11 points.  

UP NEXT: The Mountain Lions hit the road this Saturday (Feb 22nd) where they will take on Lees-McRae at 2PM.
