Young Harris Surges Past Clayton State for Second Straight Win!

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Mountain Lions capped off a Saturday doubleheader at The Harp with a strong second-half performance, defeating Clayton State 79–71. Player of the Game honors go to Justin Payne, who dropped 22 points, adding three rebounds, and knocking down four three-pointers. 

With the win, Young Harris improves to 3–3 overall and has now won two straight, while Clayton State remains winless at 0–6. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Carl Cleveland led the way with 22 points and 11 rebounds, adding two assists and shooting 60 percent from the floor. 

  • Justin Payne matched Cleveland with 22 points, knocking down four three-pointers and going a perfect 4-of-4 at the line. 

  • Cameron Bleshoy contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds for his own double-double, along with four assists. 

  • Christian Drummer added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and dished out four assists. 

  • Brayden Baker pulled down 11 rebounds and chipped in six points. 

  • Young Harris shot an impressive 54.2 percent from the field, including 62.1 percent in the second half, and dominated the paint with 52 points inside. 

  • Clayton State was led by DJ Wright, who scored 25 points and hit three triples, while Andre Young added 23 points and eight rebounds. 

  • The Mountain Lions controlled the glass with a 42–22 rebounding advantage and scored 18 points off turnovers.
