YOUNG HARRIS, GA| This week the Young Harris men's soccer team broke into the top five national rankings, earning the #5 spot from the United Soccer Coaches Association. The Mountain Lions have continued to climb the rankings, using two conference wins, a 6-2 win over Emmanuel and a 2-0 win over Francis Marion, this past week to boost them from #9 to #5 in the polls. Young Harris has managed to mesh a strong offensive attack, scoring three goals per game, and a stifling defense that has held opponents to just 1.33 goals per game. This has been the recipe that has led to an 8-0-1 record so far on the season to earn a top five national ranking and being the second ranked team in the southeast region.Â
Thomas Kleinpenning and Leho Le Louarn have led the offensive attack so far for Young Harris with Kleinpenning collecting seven goals and five assists while Leho has recorded six goals and four assists on the season. James Dee has spent the majority of time in goal, starting six games and recording twenty-two saves including nine saves over two games last week to earn Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week.Â
The Mountain Lions will look to continue their success this weekend when they return home to face Erskine College this Saturday, Oct. 11.Â
