SPARTANBURG, S.C.| The Mountain Lions battled back from a 2-0 deficit to get the 4-3 win over Converse this weekend.
Meghna Mallath won the deciding match (6-4, 3-6, and 6-4). The Mountain Lions move to 9-8 overall and 3-2 in Conference Carolina play. Converse drops to 5-10 overall and 0-4 in Conference Carolina play.
QUOTING HEAD COACH MARCY O'CONNOR:
Converse came out strong and took the doubles point. It all came down to the final match and
Meghna Mallath won it in a tough third set to clinch the match for us. Every singles line was a hard-fought battle, but we were able to complete the comeback today."
O'Connor added, "I am really proud of how the team played with so much heart and grit. They believed in each other, and their hard work, and it showed on the court today."
INSIDE THE SCORE SHEET:
- Young Harris went down 0-1 early as Converse won two out of the three doubles matches to get the point.
- The Mountain Lions dropped the first singles game, but Ashford Holly got YHC on the board winning her match (3-6, 6-4, and 6-1). Bajarano Luciana kept the momentum going, winning her match in straight sets. Young Harris took the 3-2 lead with two single matches to play.
- Converse won the #1 singles match, which tied the match at three.
- It all came down to the final singles battle between Young Harris's Meghna Mallath and Converse's Lais Martins. Mallath won the first set 6-4, dropped the second set 3-6, and clinched the win for Young Harris with a 6-4 victory in the third set.

- The Mountain Lions remain on the road for a Tuesday match at 2:00 p.m. against North Greenville University.
