Mountain Lions Men’s Lacrosse Season Comes to a Close in Wilson, North Carolina

Wilson, NC| The Young Harris College men's lacrosse team made the conference tournament in their inaugural season as part of the Conference Carolinas. The Mountain Lions took on Barton College on Tuesday (Apr. 23) afternoon on the road and ended up falling by a score of 14-3. The Mountain Lions finish their season 6-9 overall, doubling their win total from last season. The Bulldogs advance to the Conference Carolinas Semifinals on Friday (Apr. 26), in Barton, North Carolina.

QUOTING HEAD COACH BRANDEN GELDART:
"When you compete with the defending conference champions you need to limit mistakes and execute at the highest level to be successful. Barton's goaltender had a great day in net and we did not have a great day clearing. When you mix those two together it makes it hard to win."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Barton jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one period and held an 8-0 lead heading into the second half.

  • Tommy Chriszt led the Mountain Lions with two points on two goals.

  • Kieran Isbister scored the other goal for YHC, while Colburn Connelly added an assist as part of one of three Young Harris goals.

  • Nic Lord recorded five points for the Bulldogs on four goals and an assist, while Bryce Washington netted two goals and added an assist for three Barton points.

  • YHC used both Thomas Castiglia and Bryce Parrish in goal, with the former saving eight SOG and surrendering 11 goals, and the latter saving three SOG and surrendering three goals.

  • The Bulldogs used three goalies, with Drew Wheeler leading the way with eight saves and just one goal allowed.

  • BC led YHC in SOG, 25 to 14; Barton also held the advantage in groundball pickups, 38 to 26.
