Conference Debut Ends in a Split for Young Harris

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA| Young Harris and Emmanuel each take one in today's double-header in Franklin Springs (Mar 16th). After dropping game one, the Mountain Lions comeback in a 10-inning thriller in game two to pick up their first Conference Carolinas win of the season with a final score of 16-10.

The Mountain Lions move to 13-11 overall and are 1-1 in Conference Carolinas. The EU Lions moves to 12-15 overall and are 3-3 in Conference Carolinas. YHC will return home this Tuesday (Mar 19th) to take on the North Greenville Crusaders in a double-header beginning at 2PM.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

Game 1:

· Young Harris came up short in game one 3-6 to Emmanuel.

· Hannah Rizzuto (2-3) got things going in the second with a single to center field for an RBI.

· Emmanuel took charge for the next few innings. Alyssa Adams and Gabby Buffington went yard to give the Lions a 2-1 lead heading into the fifth. Two walks with the bases loaded and Mountain Lion fielding errors led to a 6-1 score in Emmanuel's favor.

· In a comeback effort for YHC, Hannah Carey and Gracie Hughes both homered.

· Emmanuel's Maddie Edwards was granted the win on seven IP and eight K's.

Game 2:

· The Mountain Lions came out on top in a 10-inning thriller 16-10.

· Addie Heal (3-6) doubled to right field in the top of the first inning for YHC's first run.

· Gracie Hughes (3-4) made contact at the plate in the third to bring in a run. Young Harris started up 2-0.

· Lexi Jordan singled to right field in the third inning which knocked in two EU runs.

· Furthering the Mountain Lion base hits, Grace Young's (2-5) infield single leads to another RBI in the fourth.

· Young Harris had a huge fifth inning. Passed ball advancement and Jordan Ratner's triple were key in the Mountain Lions taking a 7-1 lead.

· Emmanuel responded in the following innings with success at the plate, ultimately tying the game at seven.

· After a scoreless eighth, Gracie Hughes homers to left field to give YHC a 2-run lead.

· Jaryn Gibson pushes the game to 10 innings after her 2-run homerun.

· Avery Fielden, Bailee Brown, Grace Young, and Addie Heal were all a part of the action in the 10th. Young Harris put up six runs off base hits, homeruns, and taking advantage of errors.

· In the bottom of the 10th, Isabel Harrison double to center field for an RBI but it wasn't enough to catch the damage the Mountain Lions did in their half of the inning.

· Grace Young records the win this evening, her second of the season.
