Mountain Lions Face Challenging Opponents: Georgia College and the University of North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, GA | Young Harris College came up just short against Georgia College and State University on Friday (Nov. 8th) evening in the opening game of the 2024-25 season at the Lynn Contrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center. While the Mountain Lions played hard, they were unable to secure the win, starting their campaign 0-1 while the Bobcats advanced 1-0.   

In their second game of the season, the Mountain Lions were narrowly defeated by the University of North Georgia, 78-70, on Saturday (Nov. 9th) at the UNG Convocation Center Young Harris played hard until the final buzzer, but the loss leaves them with an 0-2 record, while the Nighthawks improve to 2-0. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: (Georgia College)  

  • Annalise Malone secured 20 points for the Mountain Lions, as well as going 8 for 16 on field goals. 

  • Lilly Griffith recorded an impressive five and five in both offensive and defensive rebounds, adding a total of 10 rebounds to her stat line. 

  • Chassidy Fedd was flawless at the free throw line, making both of her attempts. 

  • Young Harris shot 23.1% of three-point shots (6-26), in comparison to the Bobcats' 11.1% (2-18). 

  • The Bobcats leading scorers all had 10 points, Ashyia Willis, Hannah Cail, and Jada Warren. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: (University of North Georgia) 

  • Annalise Malone led the Mountain Lions with an impressive 23 points, grabbing eight rebounds and sinking 8 of 10 free throws. 

  • Parahuia Delemere made 5 of 8 field goals, grabbed 2 and 2 in both offensive and defensive rebounds, and pumped out 12 points towards the Mountain Lions' effort. 

  • Kamryn Bates obtained 7 rebounds to her stat line and accrued 11 points for Young Harris. 

  • Morgan Chester made both of her free throw attempts, going 2 for 2 at the line. 

  • The Mountain Lions bested the Nighthawks in three point shot attempts with 34.8% (8-23) compared to UNG's 18.5% (5-27). 

  • The leading scorer for UNG was Caroline Martin, scoring 21 points.
