Mountain Lions Dominate Agnes Scott in Home Opener

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's basketball team returned to the Enchanted Valley to take on the Agnes Scott College Scotties at The Harp Recreation and Commencement Center in Young Harris. The Mountain Lions settled into the game and took their first lead just over three minutes into the game and never gave it up. Courtney Davis dominated the Scotties, putting up 18 points, while adding four assists in route to the Mountain Lions first win of the season. Young Harris took down Agnes Scott, 69-39. 

QUOTE FROM HEAD COACH LINDSEY HUFFMAN: 
"I'm really happy for our team. They took care of business on our home court in front of a great crowd! We keep emphasizing growth and improvement. I think we've taken good steps forward this week and will continue to work to be a better team by Saturday." Continuing, "When I see 20 offensive rebounds and 18 assists, it tells me we are doing the right things- playing really hard and being unselfish. It's great to see the fabric of our program showing through on the court." 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

  • The Mountain Lions put up 31 points in the first half and kept their pedal to the metal in the second half as well, scoring 38 points. 

  • YHC shot 85% (17-20) from the free throw line, while Agnes Scott just 47.4 percent. 

  • From the field, Young Harris shot 20-62 (32.3%). 

  • The leading scorer for the Scotties was Laila Williams, with 18 points and three steals. 

  • YHC scored an impressive 27 second chance points, outrebounding Agnes Scott 44 to 17.

The Mountain Lions will play The University of West Alabama on Saturday (Nov. 16) afternoon at the Harp Recreation and Commencement Center in Young Harris on Homecoming.
