SALISBURY, N.C. | Young Harris College men's basketball fell 73-69 to Catawba in a close battle on Wednesday night. Catawba scored nine points in the final five minutes to secure the victory.
Carl Cleveland scored nine points on the night and hit a career milestone, eclipsing 1,000 career points.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Karl Chavis led three Mountain Lions in double digit scoring with 21 points. Chavis shot 7-12 from the field and drained five threes on the night. Cole Deptula and Kolbe Ashe put up 11 points each.
- Deptula nailed a three and on the next possession, Morgan Rashed converted the layup to give YHC the 20-19 lead with 8:24 left in the first half. It was back-and-forth the rest of the frame and Catawba's Kris Robinson drilled a three to give his team the 39-34 advantage at the end of the half.
- The Mountain Lions clawed back during the second half, but every time YHC would get close or tie it, Catawba would respond and build on their lead. Late in the game, Chavis hit a three and Deptula made a jumper and converted his following free throw to cut the deficit to one, with 2:51 to play. Catawba scored eight points down the stretch to secure the victory.
- YHC scored 26 points in the paint, shot 49% from the field, and 52% from deep.
- Kris Robinson scored 22 points, shooting 7-15 from the field and sinking six threes.
- Catawba turned 18 Young Harris turnovers into 29 points.
