YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Flagler College swept a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader from Young Harris College Saturday (March 4) afternoon at the YHC Softball Field.
The Saints improved to 7-9 overall and to 4-1 in the Peach Belt as they took wins of 10-4 and 9-2, while the Mountain Lions fell to 7-14 and 1-4. The teams wrap up their weekend series with a noon contest Sunday (March 5).
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
GAME 1
- Hannah Rizzuto led off the third inning with a homer to left field. It was her second long ball of the season.
- The Mountain Lions added an unearned run in the fourth before scoring twice in the sixth on Grace Young's home run to left field. It was her third on the year.
- YHC had eight hits in the opener with Rizzuto getting three.
- Kylie Ferguson (3-6) took the loss in the circle.
GAME 2
- The Mountain Lions scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
- Hannah Carey led off the fourth with a long ball to left center. It was her team-leading seventh home run of 2023.
- Aubrey Bourrie drove in a run in the fifth on a double to right center.
- Carey had two of the four hits by the Mountain Lions.
- Grace Young (1-3) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
