ROME, Ga. | Young Harris College collected 15 hits as they defeated Shorter University 7-2 in a non-conference softball game Sunday (Feb. 5) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions improved to 3-0 after the series sweep, while the Hawks fell to 0-3. Young Harris returns to action Friday (Feb. 10) afternoon at the Charger Chillout in Albertville, Alabama. YHC will face Delta State University and Trevecca Nazarene University on the first day of the three-day event.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions had 15 hits led by Hannah Carey who had three. Amber Divine, Grace Young, Shea Bayreuther, Trinity Aycock and Aubrey Bourrie had two apiece.
- YHC took a 1-0 lead in the first on a sacrifice fly from Gracie Hughes.
- The Mountain Lions add an RBI double to center field from Bourrie in the second and Aycock added a run-scoring single to center an inning later to take a 3-0.
- Divine and Carey posted RBI singles in the fourth, while Bayreuther and Addie Heal closed out the seventh with run-scoring singles.
- Jill Dixon (1-0) earned the win with a complete game. She scattered seven hits and struck out six.
