YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Lincoln Memorial University scored five unanswered goals late in the third and fourth quarters as they held off Young Harris College 10-8 in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Tuesday (Feb. 21) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Railsplitters improved to 2-2, while the Mountain Lions remained winless in five tries. YHC returns to action Saturday (Feb. 25) at 1 p.m. when they host Mars Hill University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- David Traywick and Tommy Chriszt each scored two goals for Young Harris, while Tim Blanch, Colburn Connelly, Dylan Young and Kieran Isbister had one apiece.
- Chriszt, Gunnar Fagerstrom and Traywick each posted an assist.
- Isbister's goal with 49 seconds left in the second quarter sent the teams into the half tied at 3.
- After LMU took a 4-3 lead, the Mountain Lions scored twice on strikes from Blanch and Chriszt to take a 5-4 lead with 12:36 remaining in the third quarter.
- The Railsplitters took control of the match as they scored five unanswered goals to take a 9-5 lead as they held YHC without a goal for nearly 18 minutes.Â
- The Mountain Lions scored three goals in the final nine minutes of the match to pull within two goals at 10-8.
- Jacob Haas claimed 10 face-off wins for the Mountain Lions.
- Dylan Wilbur led YHC with four ground balls, while Haas, Â Young, and Isbister had three each.
- Ben Soenen and Isbister each registered two caused turnovers.
- Wilbur notched 10 saves in the YHC goal.
