YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Alexis Scarpinato's hat trick led the Young Harris College women's soccer team past Albany State University 6-0 in a Peach Belt Conference contest Saturday (Sept. 17) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 1-6-0 overall and to 1-2-0 in the Peach Belt as YHC head coach
Avram Allen recorded his first win as a collegiate head coach. The Golden Rams fell to 0-5-0 and 0-2-0. YHC returns to play next Saturday (Sept. 24) for a 2:30 p.m. PBC match in Aiken, South Carolina, against the University of South Carolina-Aiken.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Scarpinato scored in the 11th, 55th and 59th minutes to record the Mountain Lions first hat trick since Lucero Robayo scored three times against Georgia Southerwestern State University during the 2017 season.
- Scarpinato leads the Mountain Lions with five goals this season.
- Jhena Ellerbe assisted on two of Scarpinato's goals and added a goal of her own in the 71st minute.
- Thea Juul and Cicilie Pedersen each found the back of the goal, while Morgan Kasel added an assist.
- YHC held an edge in shots (21-5), shots on goal (13-4) and corner kicks (4-2).
- Mckenna Peaster registered her first shutout of the season as she turned away four shots.
