AIKEN, S.C. | Young Harris College doubled up the University of South Carolina-Aiken 4-2 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday (Sept. 24) afternoon at the Pacer Pit.
The Mountain Lions won their second consecutive match as they improved to 2-6-0 overall and to 2-2-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Pacers fell to 2-2-3 and 0-2-2. Young Harris remains on the road Wednesday (Sept. 28) for a 7 p.m. PBC match against Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- After USC Aiken score the game's first goal, the Mountain Lions tied the match at 1 at the 13:30 mark as a quick pass from Alexis Scarpinato to Brooke Morrison in the box. Morrison scored her first goal of the year into the lower left corner of the net.
- Hannah Behner gave the Mountain Lions the lead for good in the 64th minute as her flick off a Jhena Ellerbe assist put YHC up 2-1. It was Behner's first goal of 2022.
- Alexis Scarpinato scored her team leading sixth goal of the season on a header to put Young Harris up 3-1 at the 77:20 mark. Tess Preston set up the strike.
- After USC Aiken got a goal back, Thea Juul put the exclamation point on the victory on a long ball from near midfield with 45 seconds left in the match.
- The Pacers outshot YHC 21-18 and the shots on goal were tied at 11.
- YHC goalkeeper Mckenna Peaster stopped a career high nine shots.
