YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Tusculum University scored two second-half goal as the Pioneers rallied for a 2-1 non-conference women's soccer victory over Young Harris College Sunday (Aug. 28) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Pioneers improved to 2-0-0, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-2-0. YHC hits the road for the first time Wednesday (Aug. 31)Â when they travel to Jefferson City, Tennessee, for a 5 p.m. match against Carson-Newman University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Young Harris took a 1-0 lead with 41.6 seconds before halftime. Madison Knight sent the ball into the box from the right side where Jhena Ellerbe flicked the ball to Alexis Scarpinato to her left. Scarpinato ricocheted the ball off the left post into the right corner of the goal.
- The Pioneers tied the match at 1 12 minutes into the second half as Sydney Grant passes the ball to Briana Garcia at the top of the box. Garcia then slide the ball into the left side of the net.
- After a player was sent off for a red card for Young Harris, Tusculum converted to take a 2-1 lead. Rosy Wodhams scored her second goal of the season as she knocked in a rebound of Garcia's initial shot.
- The Mountain Lions had one last chance to tie the match, but Cicilie Pedersen's direct kick with 17.6 second left from the right side was saved by Tusculum goalkeeper Grayson Patterson.
- The Pioneers had a 14-7 lead in shots, including a 6-3 margin on goal.
- Thea Juul had three shots for the Mountain Lions.
- Tusculum held a 5-1 lead in corner kicks.
- Havyn Isaac registered four saves in the YHC goal.
