JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. | Carson-Newman University scored four second-half goals as the Eagles defeated Young Harris College 4-0 in a non-conference women's soccer match at Harvey Stadium Wednesday (Aug. 31) afternoon.
The Eagles improved to 1-1-1, while the Mountain Lions remained winless in three matches. YHC returns to action Monday (Sept. 5) for a 2 p.m. Central time match against the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Maja Bengtsson scored in the 53rd minute to take a 1-0 lead for the Eagles.
- Carson-Newman added three insurance goals in a five-minute span to break the contest open.
- The Eagles outshot Young Harris 20-6 and held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
- YHC goalkeeper Havyn Isaac stopped six shots.
- Thea Juul had two shots for the Mountain Lions, while Jhena Ellerbe, Tess Preston, Maya Cramer and Cicilie Pedersen had one apiece.
