GREENWOOD, S.C. | Young Harris College scored the game's first three runs, but No. 17 University of North Georgia rallied for a 9-3 win in the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Softball Tournament Sunday (May 8) morning at Doug Spears Field on the campus of Lander Unviversity.
The fifth-seeded Mountain Lions ended their season at 23-21, while the top-seeded Nighthawks improved to 41-15 and will advance to the championship game later Sunday (May 8).
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Young Harris jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Ashley Autuori drew a bases-loaded walk and the Mountain Lions pushed across two more runs on a UNG throwing error.
- North Georgia got a run back in the second before breaking the game open with a six-run third inning. Mallory Parker had a three-run homer in the inning.
- Young Harris had six hits in the game as Shea Bayreuther, Trinity Aycock, Autuori, Jess Jaruszewski, Amber Divine and Karah Straub had one each.
- Kylie Ferguson (9-8) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
- Grace Young was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference Tournament team.
