ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Flagler College scored nine unanswered goals in the second quarter as the Saints defeated Young Harris College 20-10 in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Men's Lacrosse Tournament Tuesday (May 3) afternoon at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
The No. 4-seeded Saints improved 3-12 and advance to Friday's (May 6) semifinal against No. 1 seed University of Alabama in Huntsville. The No. 5-seeded Mountain Lions ended their season at 1-14.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Â This was the first appearance in the Peach Belt Tournament for the Mountain Lions.
- The teams traded the lead back and forth for the match's first 20 minutes. Young Harris took its last lead at 5-4 after Gunnar Fagerstrom scored with 11:37 left before halftime off an assist from Wyatt Peek.
- Flagler took control of the match as they scored the next nine goals to open up a 13-5 lead with 2:15 left in the second quarter.
- NIc Baker led the Mountain Lions with three goals, while Peek and Jeremy Rice had two goals each. Fagerstrom, Tommy Chriszt and Hunter Stagg had one each.
- Peek had two assists.
- Dylan Wilbur and Jacob Miller led the Mountain Lions with five ground balls, while Fagerstrom had four. Peek, Ben Soenen and Bryce Parrish each corralled three.
- Malcolm Henke won five face-offs for Young Harris.
- Wilbur (18) and Colin Korry (2) combined for 20 saves in the YHC goal.
