YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Thomas Vaesen scored six goals as the University of Montevallo men's lacrosse team pulled away in the second half for a 13-6 Peach Belt Conference over Young Harris College Saturday (April 23) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Falcons improved to 7-7 overall and to 2-2 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-13 and 0-4. YHC returns to action Saturday (April 30) for a 3 p.m. PBC home match against Shorter University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- After Montevallo scored the first three goals of the match, the Mountain Lions battled to within a goal at 5-4 on a Tommy Chriszt goal from Malcolm Henke with 3:01 left before halftime.
- Nic Baker scored with seven seconds before the half as YHC trailed 6-5 at the intermission.
- After the teams each scored a goal in the first seven minutes of the third quarter, the Falcons scored the final six goals - including four from Vaesen - of the match.
- Gunnar Fagerstrom led the Mountain Lions with three goals, while Baker, Lukus Olson and Chriszt each had one.
- Henke, Baker, Chriszt and Olson each had one assist for the Mountain Lions.
- Jacob Haas recorded 12 face-off wins and corralled five ground balls. Jacob Miller had four, while Baker and Bryce Parrish had three apiece.
- Ben Soenen also collected five ground balls and caused three turnovers.
- Dylan Wilbur stopped 15 shots in the YHC goal.
