YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | DeAndre Robinson scored 15 of his game-high 23 points in the second half and overtime as Lander University rallied for a 79-71 Peach Belt Conference men's basketball victory over Young Harris College Wednesday (Feb. 23) evening at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.
The Bearcats improved to 12-14 overall and to 7-10 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions ended their 2021-22 season at 6-21 and 3-15.Â
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Young Harris opened up its largest lead of the game - 11 points (43-32) - after Eden Davis sank a short jumper in the paint with 15:03 to play in the second half.
- Sebastian Augustave hit a three-pointer to give Lander a 58-57 lead with 3:28 to go.Â
- The Mountain Lions retook the lead at 67-65 on a four-point play by Carl Cleveland with 1:16 to go, but the Bearcats tied the game at 67 on a DaJaun Moorer jumper 12 seconds later.
- Each team had a chance to win the game in regulation but each team missed jumpers.
- Lander broke the game open by scoring the first seven points of overtime to open up a 74-67 lead on a Moorer's jumper in the paint after a YHC turnover with 3:31 to go.
- Young Harris only hit one field goal - a Cleveland three-pointer - and committed four turnovers in the extra period.
- Cleveland led the Mountain Lions with 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting (4-of-6 from long distance) and grabbed seven rebounds.
- Davis finished with 15 points, while Karl Chavis had 11 points and six rebounds.
- Paul Hosey grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds as YHC held a 42-32 margin on the board.
- Lander scored 22 points off YHC's 23 turnovers.
