Mountain Lions shine on Senior Day with 61-44 win over Pacers

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's basketball team picked up a 61-44 Peach Belt Conference victory over the University of South Carolina-Aiken Saturday (Feb. 19) afternoon at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center. 

Young Harris improves to 13-13 overall and 5-12 in the Peach Belt, while USC Aiken falls to 8-16 and 4-12. The Mountain Lions return to action Wednesday (Feb. 23) with a 5:30 p.m. PBC tip off against Lander University at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center. 

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE: 
  • Niaya White led the Mountain Lions with 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists. 
  • Carly Winters added 12 points, while Kalen Surles totaled 10. Surles grabbed eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
  • Young Harris had a 23-5 advantage in fast break points and outrebounded USC Aiken 45-33. 
  • Young Harris led by two 24-22 at the half after a Johnson layup assisted by Dashaun Jackson.
  • The Mountain Lions took control of the game in the third and fourth quarter outscoring the Pacers 37-22.
  • Young Harris was 11-for-17 from the free throw line. 
  • Young Harris honored its four seniors -  Lindsey Caudell, Winters, Carissa Spiker, and White - after the game concluded.
