YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Zac Carrigan scored three goals to help Mars Hill University hold off Young Harris College 9-8 in a non-conference men's lacrosse match Saturday (Feb. 19) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Lions improved to 3-1, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-5. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Feb. 26) when they travel to Harrogate, Tennessee, for a 4 p.m. match against Lincoln Memorial University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Wyatt Peek led Young Harris with three goals, while Tommy Christ had two. Nic Baker, Gunnar Fagerstrom and Tanner Redmon each found the back of the net once.
- Chriszt had three assists, while Baker and Fagerstrom had one each.
- Neither team lead by more than two goals the entire match and there were five ties.
- After YHC tied the match at 6 on a Wyatt Peek goal with 11:38 left in the fourth quarter, Mars Hill scored back-to-back goals to open an 8-6 lead.
- Peek got the Mountain Lions back within one at 9-8 with a goal off a Chriszt assist with 86 seconds to play, but couldn't find the equalizer.
- Dylan Wilbur tallied 20 saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
- Ben Soenen scooped up five ground balls, while Malcolm Henke had four. They also tallied five caused turnovers apiece.
