Four Mountain Lions named to All-Peach Belt teams

AUGUSTA, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's soccer team had four players named to the All-Peach Belt Conference teams Thursday  (Oct. 27).

Midfielder Mikkel Goeling was named to the first team, while forward Pato Padilla and defenders Sacha DeCorte and Pieter Hamhuis were selected to the second team.

MIKKEL GOELING
  • Sophomore from Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Started all 15 matches for 1,202 minutes for the Mountain Lions 
  • Led the Mountain Lions with nine goals, five assists and 23 points
  • Named to the All-Peach Belt team for second consecutive year
  • Named Peach Belt Player of the Week (10/17)
  • Scored three goals against Georgia Southwestern State (10/12)
  • Scored twice against USC Aiken (10/15)
  • Had game-winning goals against Carson-Newman (8/31), Georgia Southwestern State (10/12) and USC Aiken (10/15)
  • Tied for second in PBC in game-winning goals, third in points and tied for third in goals
  • Ranked 23rd in NCAA Division II statistics in game-winning goals and 32nd in points per game (1.53)
PATO PADILLA
  • Sophomore from Monterrey, Mexico
  • Started 10 of the 14 matches played for 728 minutes
  • Was second on team with three goals and he added an assist for seven points
  • Scored goals against Lenoir-Rhyne (8/25), North Georgia (9/14) and USC Aiken (10/15)
SACHA DeCORTE
  • Freshman from Vlezenbeek, Belgium
  • Started all 14 matches he played for 1,187 minutes
  • Scored one goal for two points
  • Scored goal against North Georgia (9/14)
  • Named Peach Belt Defender of the Week (9/26)
  • Helped Young Harris defense allowed second-fewest goals (16) in the Peach Belt
  • Helped Mountain Lion defense record most shutouts (7) in the Peach Belt
PIETER HAMHUIS
  • Sophomore from Hardenberg, The Netherlands
  • Started all 15 matches for 1,267 minutes
  • Scored one goal and assisted on another for two points
  • Scored goal against North Georgia (10/5) and assisted on a goal against Georgia Southwestern State (10/12)
  • Named Peach Belt Defender of the Week (9/6)
  • Helped Young Harris defense allowed second-fewest goals (16) in the Peach Belt
  • Helped Mountain Lion defense record most shutouts (7) in the Peach Belt
Young Harris will return to action Friday (Oct. 28) when the No. 4-seeded Mountain Lions travel to Greenwood, South Carolina, to face No. 5 seed Georgia Southwestern State University in a 6 p.m. second round match in the Peach Belt Tournament. Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased online in advance at https://peachbeltconference.org/sports/2020/10/14/tickets.aspx. Children ages five and under, and students with a valid ID from a PBC school are admitted free.
