YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Chrisalyn Boston and Amber Abusbeih each scored 18 points as Columbus State University recorded a 66-48 Peach Belt Conference women's basketball victory over Young Harris College Wednesday (Jan. 12) evening at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.
The Cougars improved to 9-6 overall and to 2-3 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 9-5 and 1-4. Young Harris will continue the homestand Saturday (Jan. 15) when they host Flagler College in a 1:30 p.m. PBC tilt.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The game saw four lead changes and four ties in the first quarter as YHC lead 13-12 after the opening 10 minutes.
- Columbus State took control of the contest in the middle quarters as the Cougars outscored the Mountain Lions 38-23.
- Kalen Surles led the Mountain Lions with 12 points and six rebounds with four assists and four steals.
- Niaya White added 11 points and four assists, while Mackenzie Johnson had 11 rebounds, eight points and three assists.
- The Cougars outscored the Mountain Lions 42-26 in the paint as they held a 39-30 edge in rebounding.
- YHC was only 1-of-13 (.077) from three-point range.
