AUGUSTA, Ga. | Young Harris College goalkeeper Eduardo D'Avino and defender Adam Kirkwood were selected as the Peach Belt Conference's Men's Soccer Players of the Week ending Sept. 19.

D'Avino was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Week, while Kirkwood was selected as the Defender of the Week.

Kirkwood guided the 20th-ranked Mountain Lion defense to a pair of shutouts last week, beating No. 9 Lenoir-Rhyne University 2-0 and defending PBC Tournament champions Flagler College 1-0. The senior from Stranraer, Scotland, helped hold L-R to just five shots - three on goal - as the Bears were given their first shutout of the season and held under 10 shots for the only time this season. YHC then limited Flagler to just six shots - two on goal - as the Saints were also shut out for the first time all year. Young Harris leads the PBC with a 0.60 team goals-against average with just three goals allowed in five games.

D'Avino was flawless in two starts for Young Harris and did not allow a goal in 164 minutes played. He recorded a shutout in the win over Lenior-Rhyne, making two saves in the effort. The junior from Rome, Italy, then played the first 74 minutes of the shutout win against Flagler, making another save. D'Avino leads the PBC and is ranked among the top 25 nationally with a 0.62 goals-against average. He is also tied for the league lead with two shutouts and second in save percentage (.727).

The Mountain Lions (5-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 Peach Belt) return to action Wednesday (Sept. 22) when they host their Blood Mountain rivals University of North Georgia in a 5 p.m. Peach Belt contest at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
