YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Emmanuel (Ga.) College volleyball team held off Young Harris College 25-21, 13-25, 25-23 and 25-18 in the non-conference home opener for the Mountain Lions Tuesday (Sept. 14) evening at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.

The Lions improved to 2-6, while the Mountain Lions slipped to 2-7. Young Harris travels to Cleveland, Tennessee, Thursday (Sept. 16) for a 4:45 p.m. match against Lee University.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

• The Mountain Lions hit a season-best .289 (39 kills, 13 errors on 90 swings).
• Leading the way for YHC were Lily Hidalgo with nine kills, while Shelby Mullins and Alex Pierre had eight apiece. Pierre hit at a .353 clip, while Hidalgo had a .350 hitting percentage.
• Annie Messler (18) and Ginger Truncale (16) combined for 34 assists.
• Joha Bernis led YHC with 16 digs, while Pierre added six.
• Pierre tallied five blocks (three solo, two assisted), while Sophie Bearden claimed four (one solo, three assisted).
