AIKEN, S.C. | The University of South Carolina-Aiken swept a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader from Young Harris College Saturday (April 17) afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.
The Pacers took game one 4-2 before claiming a 14-9 decision in game two.
USC Aiken improved to 18-14 overall and to 16-13 in the league, while Young Harris fell to 18-12 and 16-10.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
Game 1
- USC Aiken jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Mountain Lions scored twice in the top of the seventh inning. Logan Worley singled through the left side to drive in the first run before Tucker Greer added a sacrifice fly to right field.
- Worley had three of the eight hits the Mountain Lions collected.
- Worley, Cole Jackson and Brandon Joliff each had a double.
- Chad Brown (5-2) took the loss.
Game 2
- Young Harris opened a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Dahlton Cash's solo home run to center field.
- USC Aiken broke the game open with seven runs in the bottom of the first inning off YHC starter Mark Castle (2-2).
- The Mountain Lions got a run back in the top of the fourth as Rome Wallace connected on a solo homer to left field.
- Kyle Ayers added a two-run single to left-center field in the fifth for Young Harris.
- Young Harris got as close as 10-7 after the Mountain Lions scored three times in the top of the seventh. Jackson had an RBI double, while Worley drove in two more runs with his single to left field.
- The Mountain Lions added their final two runs in the ninth as T.J. Byrd and Greer added back-to-back RBI doubles.
- Jackson Jones, Wallace and Jackson each collected two hits apiece as YHC had 13 hits.
