PEMBROKE, N.C. | Young Harris College took the Peach Belt Conference baseball series finale with No. 14 University of North Carolina at Pembroke by a score of 7-3 Sunday (March 7) afternoon at Sammy Cox Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 4-6 overall and to 4-5 in the PBC, while the Braves fell to 8-4 and 6-3.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

• Young Harris took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third as Kyle Ayers reached on a two-out walk. Ayers scored on Ethan Underwood's triple to center field.
• After UNCP scored twice in its half of the third, YHC took the lead for good at 3-2 after scoring twice in the fourth inning on an UNCP fielding error.
• Ayers led off the fifth inning for the Mountain Lions with a single and later scored on Tucker Greer to give YHC a 4-2 lead. 
• The Mountain Lions added a run in the seventh. Underwood started the frame with a single and moved over to third base on a failed pickoff attempt. Underwood scored on Noah Fitzgerald's sacrifice fly.
• Young Harris added two insurance runs in the ninth. YHC scored the first one on a passed ball and the other on a Dahlton Cash single to left.
• Underwood, Fitzgerald, Greer and Cash had two hits each and drove in a run.
• Kyle Turner (1-0) earned the win in relief as he struck out four in an inning.
• McLain Harris earned his first save of 2021 as he struck out five in 2.2 innings.
