ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Young Harris College took a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader from Flagler College Saturday (March 13) afternoon at Drysdale Field.
The Mountain Lions won the opener 10-3 before recording a 9-1 decision in the nightcap.
Young Harris won its third consecutive game as they improved to 6-6 overall and 6-5 in the Peach Belt, while Flagler fell to 5-10 and 4-6.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
Game 1
- Every starter had at least a hit for the Mountain Lions, who collected 15 hits.
- Jackson Jones led the hit parade with three, while Noah Fitzgerald, Dahlton Cash, Rome Wallace and Logan Worley each had two.
- The Mountain Lions broke the game open with a six-run sixth inning. Cole Jackson smacked a two-run double to center, while Worley added an RBI single. Ethan Underwood contributed a two-run double to left-center field before Cash closed out the scoring with a run-scoring single to left-center.
- Chad Brown (2-1) scattered nine hits and struck out five in 7.2 innings for the Mountain Lions.
Game 2
- Cole Edwards (1-1) twirled the first complete game for the Mountain Lions of 2021 as he allowed just six hits and struck out six.
- YHC again scored six runs in an inning against the Saints as Young Harris took a 6-0 lead with a six-run fourth inning. Jones had an RBI single, before Brett Hawkins was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Mark Castle tallied an RBI infield single before Worley added another run on a ground out. T.J. Byrd had a pinch hit two-run single to close out the scoring.
- Tucker Greer had a RBI triple to right-center field in the seventh before Cash drove home another run with an infield single.
- Fitzgerald and Cash led YHC with two hits apiece in the nightcap.
