No. 6 Queens (N.C.) gets past Mountain Lions

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Rachel Perrett scored five goals to lead No. 6 Queens University of Charlotte to a 23-10 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Young Harris College Saturday (March 6) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Royals improved to 3-1, while the Mountain Lions fell to 2-3.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Young Harris took a 1-0 lead on an Aubrie Valvo strike 71 seconds into the match before Queens responded with seven unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead with 21:33 left in the first half.
  • The closest the Mountain Lions would get the rest of the match was six after a Kinsley Purser goal with 14:27 left in the opening 30 minutes pulled YHC within 10-4.
  • Queens outshot Young Harris 34-17 and also held a 21-12 margin in ground balls and 21-14 edge in draw controls.
  • Sierra Haas led the Mountain Lions with four goals, while Valvo and Taylor Greenberg accounted for two each. Purser and Leigh Anne Turner also scored.
  • Belle Hardwick dished out a team-high three assists for YHC while Greenberg, Ryann Haly, Anna Luckie and Valvo had one assist apiece.
  • Valvo won six draw controls, while Hardwick had three and Ella Hancock claimed two.
  • Maddy Meyers and Gwenyth Gibbons had four ground balls each for Young Harris.
  • Meyers registered eight saves in the YHC goalie.
